Sorry I never replied here, must’ve missed the notification. I think that for new writers who are starting out, the secret is to actually not focus on promotion and to just keep creating content. Best thing to do is to find a publication who will reliably post your content and let them promote you.

I don’t think it’s worth putting any energy into promoting your work until you have at least 20 articles…granted I write shorter form guides so there’s an inherent bias there.

Just remember that writing is a long game, don’t put all your energy into a small number of articles. Keep making content and you’ll be rewarded.
